A sus 92 años de edad, la Reina Isabel II de Inglaterra, hizo historia al publicar por primera vez una foto en la red social oficial de la Familia Real en Instagram; una fotografía con motivo de una visita al Museo de Ciencia de Londres.

La soberana británica subió a través de un iPad la imagen de una carta, en poder de los Archivos Reales, escrita en 1843 por el matemático Charles Babbage, y dirigida a la reina Victoria y su marido, el príncipe Alberto.

La reina se llevó los aplausos de los asistentes al museo al compartir su comentario en la cuenta de Instagram de la familia real, firmando como “Isabel R”.

Today, as I visit the Science Museum I was interested to discover a letter from the Royal Archives, written in 1843 to my great-great-grandfather Prince Albert.  Charles Babbage, credited as the world’s first computer pioneer, designed the “Difference Engine”, of which Prince Albert had the opportunity to see a prototype in July 1843.  In the letter, Babbage told Queen Victoria and Prince Albert about his invention the “Analytical Engine” upon which the first computer programmes were created by Ada Lovelace, a daughter of Lord Byron.  Today, I had the pleasure of learning about children’s computer coding initiatives and it seems fitting to me that I publish this Instagram post, at the Science Museum which has long championed technology, innovation and inspired the next generation of inventors. “Hoy tengo el placer de conocer las iniciativas de codificación informática de los niños y me parece apropiado que publique este comentario en Instagram en el Museo de Ciencia, que durante mucho tiempo ha defendido la tecnología, la innovación y ha inspirado la próxima generación de inventores”, añadió.
